Job Description
Location: Kansas City, MO
Summary:
The Painter will be assisting in the paint department with various functions. This position needs attention to detail as well as an eye for defects. A successful candidate will be safety minded and a great team player. Excellent attitude and attendance would be great contributions to this position as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for safe operation of all paint equipment and spray guns
Performs equipment, chassis repairs in preparation of paint
Spray paints chassis, parts, and equipment
Clean grease and dirt on chassis and equipment for paint
Sand, fill and prime unit or equipment as part of preparation
Communicate with lead on specs on color scheme to be painted on equipment
Verifies that equipment or parts are ready to be sprayed
Complies with all company safety rules pertaining to the paint shop
Must be able to document paint usage daily
Must wear PPE equipment while sanding, grinding, painting
Able to follow written and verbal instructions
Assure ongoing compliance with safety, quality and company requirements
Mix paint in preparation for paint
Cleans all paint equipment (spray guns, pots, and paint lines)
Responsible to keep clean and safe work area
Other assignments as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience of painting application and paint prepping
Through knowledge of the methods, tools and spray equipment used in the repair and painting of equipment
Through knowledge of skill in the use of spray guns and applications on to equipment or parts
Attention to detail and high quality of standards
Ability to interpret and work from paint diagrams and paint charts
Ability to follow paint mixing and cleaning procedures
Must have computer skills
Knowledge of paint mixing measurements and processes
Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately
Ability to perform general maintenance on paint equipment also preventive maintenance on paint booths
Good decision and judgement skills
Knowledge of hand tools (wrenches, screwdriver, hammer, etc.)
High school diploma or GED
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Previous forklift experience
Strong communication skills
Proven commitment to safety
Working Conditions:
Attendance – The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary to meet business demands.
The job is performed under extreme temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-12 hour day, and up to 60 hours per week.
Manual dexterity – The ability to type or operate common mechanical tools and equipment up to 12 hours per day, 60 hours per week.
Lifting – The ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
